Close to the M25 and the London Underground and Overground network the developments unique amenities ensure that Croxley Park is more than just a place to work.
The key focus for the area’s regeneration is sustainability. The area is designed with working community with a mixture of business and leisure functionality that will create a sense of social integration that is sometimes overlooked with large-scale prestige developments. The sustainability focus stems right from the building materials itself with environment and the long-term impact of the development considered throughout.
Teckwood’s composite cladding and decking was selected for the shelters The Cedar colour was chosen due to it fitting in with the environmentally sustainable impact of the project as a whole. It has the look of a traditional timber in terms of finish and texture but because it is composite it reduces the environmental impact of the project as a whole as there is no need to cut down acres of forest. All of Teckwood’s cladding and decking is made from FSC® certified eucalyptus and recycled HDPE plastics which make it a viable and sustainable material for green building projects.
Teckwood’s track record of providing large-scale projects with the products they need in a timely fashion was a key factor in being selected for the project.
Ask anyone who has a deck and they will be quick to tell you how much their life changed when they introduced such a versatile inside, outside space to their home. More and more people are spending more and more time outdoors – yes, even in the UK, where the weather is not exactly great. Even in inclement weather by adding a patio heating and some nice lighting, spending time on your deck all year round is possible.
If you are looking for a decking solution with a difference, we would like to introduce you to our Hallmark anti slip decking boards. These boards, which are available in four contemporary colours, are an environmentally friendly option. Made from recycled products, Teckwood’s composite decking boards will stand up to even the toughest challenges the Great British weather can throw at it.
Composite decking is a really great alternative to real wood. Made from recycled plastics and FSC certified wood it is attractive to look at, hardwearing and environmentally friendly. When you choose a composite decking solution you will have a very easy life when it comes to maintenance. In fact, all you should have to do is sweep down your deck from time to time and give it a hose over to keep it looking great.
Although Teckwood’s hallmark composite decking is a bit more expensive than some traditional wood decking options, it is normally cheaper than many hardwood options.
If you are thinking of decking your outside space and could do with some help to choose between composite and hardwood, why not get in touch? At Teckwood we are here to help you make sure that the choices you make are the very, very best for your budget.
You Can Recycle More Than You Think
You may have the basics of curb side recycling down. You put bottles, cans, cardboard, and paper in your bin; you avoid wish cycling (adding in things you’re not sure can be recycled but you wish they can); and you generally know what to throw. But there is more you can do! Recycle even more by adding another room to your recycling routine or using drop-off locations and charities for items that can’t be recycled at home.
This, Not That
Don’t be afraid to ask for help on what you can recycle. There are resources available that will help you find the best way to dispose of almost any item. Or start adding more items to your recyclable list like glossy paper, toiletry boxes, laundry detergent bottles, shampoo bottles, and cartons.
Know what to throw by remembering these tips:
Recycle food and drink cartons. Don’t recycle food and drink pouches.
Recycle paper. Don’t recycle paper soiled with food e.g. napkins. Compost it!
Recycle plastic and cardboard egg cartons. Don’t recycle Styrofoam egg cartons.
Recycle food and beverage bottles and jars. Don’t recycle drinking glasses.
The Winning Combination
Get the most out of your recycling program and make sure to keep wish cycling items out of your bin. By ensuring that everything in your recycling bin/bag is recyclable and safe for facilities, you avoid the problems created by wish cycling like wasting time, money and creating more waste. Don’t forget that “not accepted in curb side bins” doesn’t mean “not recyclable.” Use drop-off locations for items that can’t be recycled curb side to bring your habits to the next level.
There, Not Here
Some items that cause problems for facilities are still recyclable via drop-off options and local recycling facilities. Keep those items out of the bin and use recycling options instead. It’s worth the trip!
Did you know you can recycle these?
Plastic Bags – Don’t put them in the recycling bin. They cause problems for recycling facilities. Use plastic bag recycling collection boxes, often found at supermarkets.
Clothing and Textiles – Clothes can be donated to charity shops or taken to your local recycling centre.
Organics and Food Waste – You can put those items to work by composting, using a worm bin or even just putting out non protein waste for the wildlife.
Mattresses – They are big and bulky, but ninety percent of a mattress is recyclable! Take it to your local recycling centre or contact the council for it to be collected.
Batteries – They may be small, but they can be a big problem for recycling machines. Local waste recycling and lots of retail outlets accept many types of batteries.
Scrap Metal – It has value if taken to a scrap yard or your local waste recycling.
Paint – Can usually be recycled at your local waste recycling
Motor Oil and Oil Filters – Oil can be made into new oil products so take it to you local waster recyxling centre.
Here, There and Everywhere
Maximize your recycling efforts by recycling at home, at work, out and about, and by taking items to drop-off locations. Make recycling easy with signs when possible. Look for recycling options and ask for them if you don’t see them!
When the Post Office in Brickenden Lane, Hertford wanted to revamp the shop and entrance area it turned to Teckwood to supply their Luxury Vinyl Composite Flooring due to its hard wearing and anti slip properties.
Traditional flooring would not be able to handle the foot fall in one of the busiest Post Offices in the country. Teckwood’s fire rated luxury vinyl flooring offers a vibrant modern look and complemented the overall refurbishment. The Pearl Grey flooring was chosen as the perfect accompaniment.
The proprietors of the Post Office and Teckwood are delighted with the outcome of the refurbishment and look forward to working together in the future.
Five reasons why Teckwood’s fire rated luxury vinyl composite flooring is the best value for money.
1 –Very Low Maintenance
Teckwood’s fire rated flooring is so easy to care for. You just have to make sure that any grit and household dirt is swept from the floor, just like any other surface. To clean, all it takes is a damp mop and a little bit of household detergent. When well installed it’s also water proof and will stand up to excessive amounts of water such as kitchen or bathroom spills. Teckwood luxury vinyl floor has a very long life span and will be immune to what most households throw at it, no matter how many pets or kids you have.
2 – Comfortable
Luxury composite vinyl flooring does not feel cold even in the winter, the early morning trek to the bathroom is no longer an ardous trek. Teckwood’s waterproof flooring has an extra padded layer for comfort and insulation, but even without the additional insulation it is warm and soft underfoot. Soft can also means safe, if a little one takes a tumble onto a Teckwood’s luxury vinyl floor it may cause the odd tear, but not as much as solid stone may do.
3 – Won’t Break the Bank
In life, you get what you pay for and in the flooring market, the same holds true. While there are cheaper products on the market Teckwood’s fire rated flooring is unique. The Naturally Teckwood range of waterproof flooring is high quality and correctly installed and maintained can last upwards of twenty years. Our luxury vinyl composite flooring is very easy to install, there’s no need for a professional fitter, membrane or insulation making it one of the most economical floating floors on the market.
4 – Sound Reducing
Our collection of commercial flooring appears to be authentic wood with a rich true to life detail and is much quieter than engineered timber or real wood, giving great sound reduction value even when the kids are charging up and down!
5 – Safe
Teckwood’s quality flooring is probably the safest luxury vinyl flooring on the market. It’s not just water proof, it has an anti slip design and is fire rated. It can be used just about anywhere in the home or on any commercial development safely.
