# Fire Safety Composite Decking for Balconies

Fire safety measures are being stipulated on balconies by building warranty providers and regulatory bodies. Teckwood has been mindful of these issues at the design stage and have developed a range of composite decking that can make a real difference.

As space becomes less affordable constructors it most major cities are now reaching for the stars by going higher and higher and balconies are considered a vital feature of residential development.

Traditional timber decking is obviously a risk as it could be the starting point of a fire. By combining specialist fire rated chemicals into their extrusion powder Teckwood are able to provide two **Class B fire rated** **composite decking** boards, both boards also maximise drainage capability.

Always check with your local building code authority to confirm the fire requirements in your location, and even if the building codes do not require it, you might want the peace of mind that comes with knowing your home is that much more protected if the unthinkable happens.
