Lets go over the functions of a Pedestal and a little further on we will cover how it benefits any decking project.
What is a Pedestal in construction?
Pedestals have been used for centuries but not as we recognise them now. They were first employed by the architects of ancient Rome to make a column look more imposing. The Romans also used pedestals when they invented the Hypocaust system of under floor heating.

- Self levelling slope correction of up to 5%
- Progressive changes to height increments
- Locking rings for assured rigid assembly
- The tabs are removable with ease while the base presents innovative pre marked incisions for an easy and precise cutting
- The large contoured soft bases prevent damage to the membrane
- Allows easy access to the underlying layers when repairs need to be carried out
- Can be easily taken away and reused in another position
- UV protected giving longer operational life
What are the functions of a pedestal?
- To carry the load from the column to the footing/base safely.
- To distribute the load from the column evenly over a wide area on the footing.
- To prevent the column from contacting the membrane
- Protection of the roof membrane
- Effective storm water management
